About the role
This is an opportunity for an experienced Chief Financial Officer to lead an established finance function and become a trusted strategic adviser to the Managing Director, board, and executive leadership team.
You will take executive responsibility for financial strategy, performance, governance, cash flow, risk, and commercial decision support. The role combines strategic influence with hands-on leadership and suits a CFO who is comfortable operating in an SME or mid-market environment where finance is closely connected to day-to-day business performance.

Key responsibilities
Financial Strategy & Executive Leadership
- Partner with the Managing Director and leadership team on business strategy, growth priorities, and financial performance.
- Translate financial information into clear commercial recommendations.
- Lead long-term financial planning, scenario modelling, and investment evaluation.
- Assess the financial implications of major initiatives, tenders, capital expenditure, and business proposals.
- Present financial performance, risks, and recommendations to the board and senior leadership.
Performance & Commercial Insight
- Lead annual budgets, forecasts, and periodic reforecasting.
- Maintain visibility across cash flow, working capital, profitability, and financial risk.
- Deliver timely management reporting across sales, margins, business units, and operational performance.
- Identify emerging trends, risks, and opportunities requiring management attention.
- Develop models that support pricing, commercial negotiations, and investment decisions.
Governance, Risk & Compliance
- Oversee statutory reporting, tax obligations, and regulatory compliance.
- Maintain strong financial controls, delegations, and governance processes.
- Lead external audit, accounting, and advisory relationships.
- Oversee banking, funding, insurance, and key financial-service relationships.
- Support the business in managing financial, commercial, and operational risk.
Systems & Transformation
- Ensure the integrity and effectiveness of financial systems and reporting.
- Identify opportunities to improve finance processes, automation, controls, and data quality.
- Lead finance-system enhancements and broader transformation initiatives.
- Support the effective use of Pronto ERP and related reporting platforms.
- Improve access to meaningful financial and operational information across the business.
What you bring
Required qualifications
Education & Experience
- Substantial experience leading an end-to-end finance function within an SME or mid-market organisation.
- Previous experience as a CFO, Head of Finance, Finance Director, or senior finance executive.
- CA or CPA qualification.
- Demonstrated experience advising Managing Directors, boards, or executive leadership teams.
- Proven experience leading budgeting, forecasting, management reporting, and statutory compliance.
- Proven experience leading and developing a finance team.
Commercial & Leadership Capability
- Strong financial-planning, cash-flow, working-capital, and commercial-analysis capability.
- Sound knowledge of governance, internal controls, and enterprise risk.
- Strong commercial judgement and the confidence to challenge assumptions constructively.
- The ability to combine strategic leadership with appropriate operational oversight.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and stakeholder-management skills.
- Practical experience with Pronto ERP is highly regarded.
